Why Work With Me?

I want you to read this next part very carefully....

You might now be thinking should you sign up and is it worth your time and investment. Well lets address the cost of not working with me.

I would not be lying to you when I say there are very few strength and conditioning coaches out there with the experience in combat sports and martial arts that I have. This means that often when an athlete comes to me and shows me what they have been doing for their strength and conditioning program it is a very good 'general' program. However, it is not specific to what they need for their sport and often the emphasis placed on their S&C is too great.

The most common challenges I hear from these athletes when they begin to first work with me are:

1. The hard work they are putting in whilst in the gym isn't carrying over to their skills training.

2. They are getting pushed around in sparring by team mates who appear weaker and are lighter than them.

3. Every week they are doing gruelling conditioning sessions but never feel fitter and are still gassing out.

4. The strength and conditioning sessions they are doing is leaving them too sore and tired to properly train their specific work the next day.

5. They are not sure when and how much they should be eating.

6. They don't feel like the structure to their week is optimal, every day feels hard and there is no time for recovery.

7. They have discovered that just tracking barbell maxes such as squats and deadlifts isn't helping them track progress.

Working with me will address all the points above and ensures that every element of your program is designed towards helping improve your sport specific training, not taking away from it.

About Me

My name is James Langford

I have spent the last 9 years working with elite combat sport athletes across an array of different disciplines and I have supported athletes to some of the worlds largest competitions and to medals at both the Olympic & Paralympic games, victories at the UFC, WAKO World Championships, PFL (Professional Fighters League), Bellator and more.

Having spent many years working within high performance organisations such as UK Sports Institute, GB Taekwondo, GB Boxing & professional rugby clubs I was shocked when I moved to the private sector at the support combat sports athletes and martial artists were receiving. Many aspects of their program, including their S&C, seemed disjointed from their technical coaching.

I made it my goal to change this and with my high performance coaching I believe I have.

Sport Specific Program

All elements of your S&C program will be built around improving your sports performance, not gym performance. This means we will not be chasing back squat 5RM or VO2 max for the sake of it. We will have a targeted approach to improving the key performance indicators you need to perform at the level you desire.

Testing & Monitoring

For this program to help you develop it is crucial it supports your technical and tactical training, not overrides it. This is where our state of the art training load tracking will come in to ensure that we always know how hard you are working, when to push and when to pull back.  This ensures we are always focusing on building the plan around your sport training.

Sport First

Your S&C program will always be built to work around your sport training, not vice versa. It is often the case that strength and conditioning coaches or personal trainers will view their sessions at the most important in the week.

Sure this means you will get good results in the gym but you will always be too tired and too fatigued in your key training sessions for any of this to carry over. Not here.
